Oh the Lovely Marathon...

So Whitney and I decided a few months ago we were going to train for the Chicago Marathon. When we first started the training we thought it was a great idea. Then when we had to register and pay $110 to run 26.2 miles I kind of thought we were out of our minds. So we decided to both find a charity to run for to make it worth while. I'm running for team LUNGevity, a lung cancer foundation and Whit is running for the Cancer Research Group.

So we are following a book called "The Non Runners Guide to Running a Marathon". After our long run last week I had blisters on my arches and realized this is turning out to be not so much fun. I will continue on though and just wear bandaids. Whit and I can use all the support we can get as the days get hotter and our runs get longer!! Thanks to all of those who have donated to us so far!!

MINI GOLF!

Zach, Whitney and I decided to plan a date for mini golfing. It's a shame that there are so few courses around the area but we found one near her home. We went to Putter There right by the Como Zoo. The office was a little caboose, it was so cute. We waited in the long line for hole 1 for awhile, then the nice young man who was working the course told us to go ahead to 9 and get started. We started off great with me getting a HOLE IN ONE!! We continued on our game, laughing and having a good time. I decided there were infinity do overs while playing, while Whit and Zach kept trying to add strokes on my game!

We were about half way through the course when we came to a hole with one of those little metal loop to loops, where you hit the ball in one side and it rolls along and out the other side. Whit wound up for her stroke, hit the ball and it in some strange way hit the side of the structure and went flying in the air. As we all covered out mouths and Zach yelled watch out there was a little girl, about 5 years, and her brother (about 7) on the hole next to us. She covered her head and went running. Unfortunately the ball followed her hitting her smack in the back of the head. Zach was laughing so hard I thought he was going to be rolling on the course. Whit was almost in tears at the fact that she had hit a child on the mini golf course. The brother was laughing, as he was trying to console his sister. He thought it was great. All in all no one was hurt and we contemplated giving Whit a 7 stroke penalty for hitting a child.



In the end, the scores were as follows:
Zach: 39
Whit: 43
and me winning first place with 44!! (I decided that the highest score won that day!)

My G-MA

I talk to my Grandma every day.  She lives in Chicago so I don't get to see her very often but it's nice to chat with her and keep her up to date on the world.  Every time I talk to her she tells me "you have such an interesting life, you need to journal and make sure you remember these times" so this is my journal.  I figure this is the 2008 way to journal.  I saw my Gramm last in April while I was in Chicago here's a photo from that!  

So...welcome to my world!  After spending many breaks at work reading my dear friend Tabbi's blog I have decided I'm going to start blogging myself.  I hope you enjoy it!
